Joan of Arc: The Maiden Minifigure
Introducing the original Minifigure of the Brickafig Company, Joan of Arc. Our focus is designing accurate, detailed figures with some of the story behind the real people who inspired our creations. I chose the stained glass window from the St. Church of Angels in Wellington, New Zealand as my artistic reference because of the vibrant colors and the contrast in the imagery. She is often shown with armor with the distinctive breastplate details and rounded shoulder pieces included in this design.  I also wanted to make sure to include one of the most long-standing, well-known French symbols, the fleur-de-lis, as a prominent detail. The final touch is a medieval-styled sword that we have painted gold (please handle with care) to most closely match the descriptions of her fabled sword.
The Designer 

History

 Believing she was acting under divine guidance, at the age of 17 Joan of Arc led the French army to victory at Orleans, stopping the British invasion of France during the Hundred Years’ War.  She was captured a year later and burned alive as a heretic.  As “The Maid of Orleans,” she became a national heroine and over 500 years later was canonized as a Roman Catholic Saint in 1920.

Today, she is revered throughout the world for her valor, courage, defiance, military leadership and devotion to God.
